Qatar Engages in Key GCC Ministerial Meetings, Hosts Joint Session with UK

Kuwait city: The State of Qatar participated in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) ministerial meetings, which included the 69th Committee for Trade Cooperation, the 55th Committee for Industrial Cooperation, and the 10th Ministerial Committee for Standardization Affairs. These meetings were held in Kuwait with a focus on enhancing regional collaboration. According to Qatar News Agency, the Qatari delegation was led by HE Minister of Commerce and Industry Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal Al-Thani. The meetings saw participation from the Ministers of Commerce and Industry of the GCC member states, along with the Secretary-General of the GCC. Key topics of mutual interest were discussed and appropriate resolutions were adopted. On the sidelines of the Trade Cooperation Committee meeting, a joint session was organized between the GCC member states and the United Kingdom, which was attended by the GCC Ministers of Commerce, the Secretary-General of the GCC, and from the UK, HE Member of Parliament and Ministe r of State at the Department for Business and Trade Chris Bryant. The session focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation, exploring support and development avenues, and discussing the finalization of the Free Trade Agreement with the UK. Additionally, the Ministers of Industry from the GCC deliberated on various agenda items, including defining the Gulf national product, the list of goods for collective protection, and the promotional plan for industrial investment opportunities. The ministers reviewed recommendations from the Committee of Industry Undersecretaries and adopted necessary decisions. Moreover, the Ministers of the GCC Ministerial Committee for Standardization Affairs held their 10th meeting to discuss the Standardization Organization's recent developments, approve draft Gulf technical regulations, and update the organizational structure. They also ratified the internal regulations of the Gulf Accreditation Center and endorsed the strategic plan for 2026-2030.
