Qatar Engages in Strategic Discussions at OAPEC Ministerial Meeting

Kuwait city: The State of Qatar actively participated in the 115th Ministerial Council meeting of the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC) held in Kuwait. The Qatari delegation was led by HE Minister of State for Energy Affairs, Eng. Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi. The meeting focused on key issues affecting the organization's operations, including the 2026 draft budget, ongoing projects to enhance its functions, and the unveiling of a new organizational identity.

According to Qatar News Agency, Kuwaiti Oil Minister and current Chairman of the Ministerial Council, Tareq Al Roumi, highlighted the importance of the meeting, noting its occurrence at a pivotal time for OAPEC. He pointed out the pressing need for unified visions and enhanced coordination among member states to foster stability in energy markets and strengthen OAPEC's regional and international influence.

OAPEC Secretary-General, Jamal Al Loughani, emphasized the Secretariat's ongoing efforts since the Council's decision to implement a development project. He acknowledged the progress achieved through collaboration with the specialized committee and the Executive Office, demonstrating the organization's dedication to transformative goals. Al Loughani also underscored the Secretariat's responsibility to sustain these efforts, as OAPEC embarks on a new phase filled with opportunities and challenges that demand collective action.
