Doha: Following the meeting between HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani and HE the European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission Kaja Kallas on the sidelines of the Doha Forum, the State of Qatar and the European Union announced the launch of negotiations for a Qatar-EU Strategic Partnership Agreement (SPA).
According to Qatar News Agency, this process represents a forward-looking and ambitious effort in cooperative diplomacy, marking a significant milestone in the bilateral relations between Qatar and the EU. The announcement highlights the robust partnership between the two entities and presents opportunities for both sides to strengthen and expand their cooperation.
Recognizing Qatar's significant role, especially its mediation efforts in peace and conflict resolution, alongside the EU's commitment to maintaining the rules-based international order, both parties emphasized their shared resolve to collaborate more closely to foster regional peace, prosperity, and security.
During the forthcoming negotiation process, Qatar and the EU will seek to identify new channels for enhanced cooperation in key areas of mutual interest. Both HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and HE the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission reiterated their unwavering commitment to deepening their partnership and enhancing their dynamic and mutually beneficial relations in the face of a complex regional and international environment.
