Rublev, ranked 14th in the world, secured a straight-sets victory over Dutch player Jesper de Jong, ranked 86th globally, winning 6-4, 6-3.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Russian will face Hungarian F¡bi¡n Marozs¡n, ranked 48th in the world, on Wednesday in the second round of the tournament. Belgian Zizou Bergs also advanced to the second round after defeating Frenchman Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in three sets, 6-3, 6-7, 6-4. He will meet Czech player Jir Lehecka, who defeated American Jenson Brooksby in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3.
