Doha: Qatari race driver Abdullah Al Khelaifi achieved good results in the first and second free practice sessions for the Porsche Carrera Cup Middle East, held Friday on the sidelines of the Qatar Airways Formula 1 Qatar Grand Prix, the 23rd and penultimate round of the World Championship.
According to Qatar News Agency, Al Khelaifi finished fifth in the first free practice session with a time of 2:00.254. Japan's Tai Chi topped the timesheets with a time of 1:58.969, followed by Australia's Caleb Somech in second place with a time of 1:59.297. Saudi Arabia's Khalid Al Ahmadi came in third with a time of 2:00.046, and Bulgaria's Alexandra Vetteeva finished fourth with a time of 2:00.083.
In the second free practice session, Abdullah Al Khelaifi finished fifth with a time of 1:58.884. Japan's Tai Chi continued his dominance, taking first place in the second session with a time of 1:57.441.
Australia's Caleb Somech came in second with a time of 1:57.612, followed by Max Sinner in third with a time of 1:58.358, and Saudi Arabia's Khalid Al-Ahmadi in fourth with a time of 1:58.534.
The Porsche Carrera Cup Middle East championship continues tomorrow, Saturday, with qualifying sessions. The first main race of the 11-lap, 25-minute Porsche Cup will take place in the evening, and the competition will conclude on Sunday with the second main race at 1:45 PM.
