Doha: Qatar Free Zones Authority (QFZ) and Qatar Foundation (QF) have signed a partnership agreement to establish a strategic framework for cooperation on climate change action and sustainable development. The agreement aims to enhance Qatar's preparedness for climate change through education, research, and community engagement projects.
According to Qatar News Agency, the agreement was signed by HE CEO of QFZ Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Faisal Al-Thani and CEO of Qatar Foundation Yousif Al Naama at the Business Innovation Park in Ras Bufontas Free Zone. The event was attended by senior officials from both organizations.
In a statement, QFZ highlighted that the agreement sets a framework for collaboration through Qatar Foundation's sustainability platforms. This includes partnerships with the Earthna Center for a Sustainable Future and the Sustainability Academy at Green Island, a community-centric recycling hub. The partnership will support applied research, policy dialogue, capacity-building, and community engagement initiatives focusing on climate resilience, sustainable development, and innovation.
The implementation of the partnership will be guided by annual work plans, coordination mechanisms, and impact reporting to ensure effective delivery and measurable outcomes. HE CEO of QFZ Sheikh Mohammed Bin Hamad Bin Faisal Al-Thani emphasized that the partnership aligns with Qatar National Vision 2030 and strengthens their commitment to tackling climate change and promoting sustainable development.
Yousif Al Naama, CEO of Qatar Foundation, remarked that addressing climate change and engaging society in sustainability is accelerated through partnerships built on knowledge and a shared purpose. He further noted that the collaboration aims to enhance contributions to shaping a sustainable future for Qatar and its people by fostering sustainability solutions and empowering the community to adopt sustainable behaviors.
