Doha: In line with the directives of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, the Qatar Fund For Development (QFFD) has announced the launch of the second phase of electricity support for the Syrian Arab Republic. This initiative aims to provide a substantial boost to the electricity sector in Syria, with a capacity of 800 megawatts.
According to Qatar News Agency, the State of Qatar has also welcomed the announcements by HE Prime Minister of Canada Mark Carney and HE Prime Minister of the Republic of Malta Dr. Robert Abela regarding their nations' intentions to recognize the State of Palestine. These moves are seen as positive steps that align with international legitimacy, relevant UN Security Council resolutions, and provide significant support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
In another development, the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) revealed that HE President of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC), Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani, is the sole candidate for the presidency of the Council.
