Qatar Hails UK’s Intention to Recognize State of Palestine

Doha: The State of Qatar welcomed the announcement by UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer of his country's intention to recognize the sisterly State of Palestine and its support for the two-state solution. The State of Qatar considered it an important development consistent with international legitimacy and relevant Security Council resolutions, contributing to enhancing the chances of achieving a just and comprehensive peace in the region.

According to Union of OIC News Agencies, the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed, in a statement, that this announcement aligns with the agreement of the countries participating in the international conference to resolve the Palestinian issue by peaceful means and implement the two-state solution. The agreement outlines a roadmap aimed at increasing recognition of the Palestinian state. Simultaneously, it represents significant support for the legitimate rights of the brotherly Palestinian people, enabling them to determine their fate and establish their independent state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The Ministry reiterated the State of Qatar’s call to all states that have not yet recognized the State of Palestine to take similar steps. Such recognition would reflect a commitment to international law and support the historical and inalienable rights of the brotherly Palestinian people on their land.
