Doha: Al Sadd emerged victorious against Al Ahli with a narrow 27-26 win in the second round of the 2025-2026 Qatar Men's Handball League. The match saw Al Sadd make a remarkable comeback after trailing 14-17 at halftime to win by a single goal. This result brings Al Sadd to four points, putting them on par with Al Ahli. According to Qatar News Agency, in another match from the same round, Al Wakrah displayed a solid performance to defeat Qatar SC with a scoreline of 24-19. Leading 12-9 at halftime, Al Wakrah maintained their lead throughout the second half to secure the victory. This win also lifts Al Wakrah to four points, while Qatar SC remains on two points. The second round of the league will continue tomorrow with three anticipated fixtures: Al Arabi versus Al Shamal, Al Khor against Al Duhail, and Al Gharafa meeting Al Rayyan. Al Arabi enters this season as the reigning champions, having won the league title in the 2024-2025 season. Al Duhail were the runners-up last season, with Al Rayyan finishing in third place. Historically, Al Rayyan holds the record for the most league titles, boasting 15 championships. Al Sadd follows with nine titles, with Al Duhail securing five. Both Al Ahli and the now-defunct El Jaish (Army Club) have won four titles each. Al Arabi has three titles, Qatar SC two, and both Al Gharafa and Al Wakrah have each claimed the league once.
