Qatar Highlights Water Sustainability Efforts at Arab Ministerial Water Council and Conference.

Amman: The State of Qatar has actively participated in the 16th session of the Arab Ministerial Water Council and the 6th Arab Water Conference held in Jordan. The events, themed "Governance Towards Achieving Water Sustainable Development," brought together numerous stakeholders to discuss critical water management issues. According to Qatar News Agency, Qatar's delegation was led by Eng. Essa bin Hilal Al Kuwari, President of the Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa). In his opening speech, Eng. Al Kuwari emphasized the importance of collective responsibility to ensure access to clean and safe water. He reiterated Qatar's alignment with the sixth goal of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, which focuses on water and sanitation for all. Eng. Al Kuwari detailed Qatar's commitment to water preservation through sustainable practices and initiatives aimed at increasing water use efficiency and conservation. He highlighted Qatar's investments in advanced desalination technologies, smart wa ter network systems, and wastewater treatment and recycling initiatives to address the growing water demand. Additionally, Eng. Al Kuwari outlined Qatar's implementation of an integrated water management plan. This plan is supported by a robust water security policy, a national water strategy, and regulatory measures to ensure sustainable water resource distribution across various sectors. The meetings served as a platform for exchanging experiences and innovations in water management. They also focused on discussing the executive plan for the water security strategy in the Arab region, which is essential for meeting the challenges and future requirements of the Sustainable Development Goals 2030.
