Qatar Hosts 19 Russian and Ukrainian Families in Doha for Supportive Programs

Doha: The State of Qatar has announced the arrival of 19 families from Russia and Ukraine, comprising 32 children, in Doha. These families will be involved in programs that offer healthcare and comprehensive support services, underscoring Qatar's ongoing mediation efforts to reunite families affected by the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar confirmed the families will be hosted in Doha from April 14 to 24. This initiative follows the successful hosting of 20 Russian and Ukrainian families last year, during which they received essential medical, psychological, and social support.

The Ministry emphasized that initiatives like this are pivotal in aiding families through their recovery journey. The programs are designed to not only meet immediate needs but also establish a foundation for long-term recovery and integration.

The program is carried out in collaboration with HE Dmytro Lubinets, the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, on the Ukrainian side. It focuses on enhancing the well-being and stability of the families, supporting their psychological and social health to help rebuild their lives with confidence and security.

On the Russian side, the partnership involves Maria Lvova-Belova, the Children's Rights Commissioner for the President of the Russian Federation. The initiative aims to support families by improving their overall condition and fostering a stable and harmonious life.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated Qatar's commitment as a mediator to safeguarding all civilians impacted by the conflict. It also highlighted Qatar's dedication to mediation efforts centered on reuniting children with their families and ensuring their safety and well-being.
