Doha: Qatar Tourism hosted the 2025 Doha International Diamond and Gem Conference with the participation of prominent global figures, including government officials, diamond industry leaders, and experts from over 40 countries. The conference explored key trends, fostered collaboration, and addressed challenges in the diamond and gemstone industry.
According to Qatar News Agency, HE Chairman of Qatar Tourism and the Board of Directors of Visit Qatar, Saad bin Ali Al Kharji, expressed enthusiasm for sponsoring the conference, highlighting its role as a platform to explore transformative shifts within the market. He emphasized the synergy between this event and the Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition, aimed at reinforcing Qatar's strategic vision of becoming a global hub for luxury. Al Kharji expressed confidence that the partnerships and insights shared during the conference would drive future innovation and bolster Qatar's position globally.
Alex Popov, Chair of the DIDGC Organizing Committee, noted the success of organizing the inaugural conference in just three months and expressed hopes for establishing a lasting tradition in Qatar. The three-day event featured keynote speeches, panel discussions, and interactive sessions led by notable figures, including HE Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Sayed, Minister of State for Foreign Trade; HE Bogolo Joy Kenewendo, Minister of Minerals and Energy of Botswana; Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman of the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre; Feriel Zerouki, President of the World Diamond Council; and Kirit Bhansali, Vice Chairman of the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council.
The conference provided delegates with insights into the latest trends and innovations shaping the diamond and gemstone sectors, coupled with the warmth and hospitality Qatar is known for.
