Doha: Doha hosted Tuesday the second coordination meeting to inscribe Sanbuk (traditional wooden dhow) on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list. The meeting, held by the Ministry of Culture from February 4 to 6, brings together representatives and experts of 13 Arab countries working on preparing the final draft of the Arab-backed file. According to Qatar News Agency, it is being held in collaboration with the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) and Qatar National Commission for Education, Culture and Science. The file will be submitted for the UNESCO nomination by the end of March 2025. Addressing the meeting, the Ministry of Culture's Director of Heritage and Identity Department Sheikha Najla bint Faisal Al-Thani hailed the file as a manifestation of unity and support for the unified Arab heritage. She extended thanks to Arab efforts exerted in this file and other files including the palm tree, Arabic calligraphy and others. She also thanked partners in ALECSO, Qa tar National Commission for Education, Culture and Science, and the participating experts.
