Cairo: The State of Qatar participated in an extraordinary session of the Council of the League of Arab States, convened at the level of Permanent Representatives, to condemn recent Israeli measures in the occupied West Bank. This meeting, held at the Arab League's General Secretariat headquarters in Cairo, focused on addressing the Israeli occupation's efforts to change the legal, demographic, and administrative dynamics in the West Bank through settlement expansion, annexation policies, and land seizure.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Qatari delegation was led by HE Ambassador Sheikh Jassim bin Abdulrahman bin Mohammed Al-Thani, who serves as Qatar's Ambassador to Egypt and its Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States. The session, which was urgently requested by the State of Palestine, aimed to formulate Arab and international strategies to counter these developments.
The State of Palestine prompted the meeting due to recent decisions by the Israeli occupation government, which include expanding settlements, demolishing homes, seizing land, and transferring municipal powers in Hebron to the occupying authorities' "Civil Administration." These actions also impact significant sites like the Ibrahimi Mosque, prompting the need for a coordinated Arab response.
