The State of Qatar has signed a Unified Administrative Agreement with the United Nations Road Safety Fund (UNRSF) to reduce road traffic deaths and injuries in the country and globally. By joining the Fund, the State of Qatar joins a global partnership that aims to reduce road traffic deaths and injuries, and becomes part of a global network of bodies that are addressing critical gaps in national road safety systems. Representing Qatar at the signing ceremony was HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Office in Geneva Dr. Hind bint Abdulrahman Al Muftah, on behalf of the Ministry of Transport, and representing the UNRSF was Executive Secretary of UN Economic Commission for Europe Tatiana Molcean. During the ceremony, Qatar announced a financial contribution of $450,000 to the UNRSF, reaffirming its commitment to road safety. HE Executive Secretary explained that Qatar's generous donation will support the UNRSFs unique mandate to boost government efforts to achieve global r oad safety targets. For his part, HE UN Secretary-Generals Special Envoy for Road Safety Jean Todt welcomed Qatar's financial contribution to the fund. In turn, HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Office in Geneva said, "The State of Qatar is proud to invest in achieving global road safety targets through the UN Road Safety Fund. By supporting the UNRSF, we are investing in a safer future for all road users in the State of Qatar and around the world." Source: Qatar News Agency
