Doha: Qatar Men's Padel Team continued their winning streak at the ongoing Gulf Padel Championship, clinching their third consecutive win with a 2-1 victory over Kuwait on Wednesday evening in Doha.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Qatari pair Rashid Nawaf and Meshari Nawaf secured the opening win with a performance against Kuwait's Hussein Shmais and Abdulrahman Al-Awadi, taking the match in straight sets 6-2, 6-3.
Kuwait responded in the second match, as Fouad Behbehani and Abdulaziz Reda defeated Qatar's Mohammed Al Khenji and Khalid Saadon in a three-set battle 4-6, 6-2, 6-3, leveling the overall score at 1-1.
In the deciding match, Qatar's Mohammed Saadon and Hassan Wali delivered a performance, beating Mohammed Abdullah and Hammoud Al Junaidel 6-1, 6-2, securing the overall win for the host nation.
Mohammed Al Roumi, head of the Kuwaiti delegation, praised the quality and atmosphere of the event, calling the Gulf Padel Championship in Doha one of the best and most competitive tournaments in the region.
This tournament reflects the spirit of Gulf unity, bringing together athletes and officials in a competitive and professional environment, he said.
Al Roumi commended Qatar and the Qatar Padel Federation for their organization, hospitality, and welcoming environment. Qatar has once again proven its excellence in hosting major sporting events, he added.
