Qatar National Commission for Education, Culture and Science Organize Event on Environment, Climate

Qatar National Commission for Education, Culture and Science, in cooperation with UNESCO office will hold a ceremony marking International Youth Day 2023 in Doha on Thursday.

Held under the theme “Green skills for youth: Towards a sustainable world”, the event aims to facilitate dialogue and exchange knowledge about the needs, challenges and opportunities in developing green skills in the State of Qatar, discuss and explore ways to support the greening education agenda, provide a cross-generational platform and contribute to the social and economic development in Qatar through facilitating transition towards environmental development, as an essential pillar of the Qatar National Vision 2030.

The shift towards an environmentally sustainable and climate-friendly world is crucial, not only in terms of responding to the global climate crisis, but also to achieving the sustainable development goals.

A successful transition towards a greener world will depend on the development of green skills in the population. Green skills are knowledge, abilities, values and attitudes needed to live in, develop and support a sustainable and resource-efficient society.

The UN celebrates International Youth Day, which was inaugurated and launched about 23 years ago with the aim of reminding the world of the role of youth and obligations towards them as the basis of their nations’ cultural and social projects, as well as being the group most in need of attention due to the sensitivity of the stage in which they live.
