Qatar National Day Celebrated as a Symbol of Unity and Visionary Leadership

Doha: HE Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the State of Qatar Sira Swangsilpa expressed that Qatar National Day is a significant occasion marking the unity, resilience, and visionary leadership of the Qatari people, while honouring the legacy of Founder Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani.

According to Qatar News Agency, HE Ambassador Sira Swangsilpa emphasized that this day reflects the pride and confidence of both citizens and residents in Qatar's achievements and its dynamic future under the leadership of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani. He highlighted Qatar's role as a reliable partner and global mediator in promoting dialogue, peace, and sustainable development.

His Excellency noted Qatar's steadfast commitment to peace and development, particularly in conflict-affected areas, and its role as a trusted mediator and provider of humanitarian assistance. He underscored Qatar's focus on human dignity as a cornerstone of its international engagements, aligning with Thailand's foreign policy principles of peaceful dispute settlement. The Ambassador expressed gratitude for Qatar's humanitarian role in the safe release of Thai nationals from the Gaza crisis.

Qatar's efforts as a bridge-builder and peace facilitator are further exemplified by its contributions to the ceasefire agreement in the Middle East in 2025. HE Ambassador Swangsilpa remarked on Qatar's remarkable transformation, guided by the Qatar National Vision 2030, noting progress in infrastructure, education, health, and sustainability, as well as its successful hosting of the FIFA World Cup 2022 and other global events.

In terms of bilateral relations, this year marks the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Thailand and Qatar. The partnership is based on mutual respect and shared aspirations, with growing cooperation in trade, investment, renewable energy, food security, and technological innovation. Bilateral trade has reached over USD 4 billion, with Thailand exporting automobile parts and jewelry, and Qatar exporting LNG, crude oil, and fertilizers. The establishment of QatarEnergy's office in Bangkok highlights the importance of LNG trade.

Concluding his statements, HE Ambassador Sira Swangsilpa reaffirmed Thailand's readiness to collaborate with Qatar in building a resilient, innovation-driven, and sustainable future. He highlighted key areas for cooperation, including renewable energy, food security, halal science, medical tourism, and advanced technology. Thailand looks forward to promoting peace and stability in both the Middle East and Southeast Asia through a continued partnership with Qatar.
