Doha: The National Day (QND) 2025 celebrations continued Friday at Darb Al Saai in the Umm Salal area, under the theme "With You We Rise and From You We Await," organized by the Ministry of Culture from December 10 to 20, drawing a significant public turnout. According to Qatar News Agency, the "Spectrum of the Sands" event is a centerpiece of the celebrations, offering both live documentation and interactive displays to present a comprehensive picture of Bedouin life and Qatari identity. The event allows visitors to immerse themselves in the details of desert life, showcasing the tangible and intangible heritage that has shaped the Qatari community across generations. The event is inspired by the content of the Desert Museum, founded by Abdulaziz Abdulrahim Al Buhashim Al Sayed, a researcher in Qatari history and heritage. The Desert Museum features unique collections of artifacts and tools that narrate details of Bedouin life, from the foundations of hospitality to traditional crafts and hobbies. Al Sayed emphasized that the "Spectrum of Sands" aims to revive the living experience of heritage, enabling visitors to experience and interact with traditional practices. He noted that each exhibit and activity seeks to convey social and cultural values to the new generation, fostering a connection to Qatari identity and heritage. The Qatari Publishers and Distributors Forum, affiliated with the Ministry of Culture, is also part of the celebrations, collaborating with the Children's Literature Center to launch the sixth edition of the "Children's Story Designer" program. This three-day event allows children to launch stories they have written, illustrated, and designed. The program is a leading initiative specializing in training young people in various aspects of children's book production. Director of the Qatari Publishers and Distributors Forum, Jassim Ahmed Al Buainain, explained that the student publications featured in the program are a prelude to their public display and sale at the Doha International Book F air 2026. He highlighted the success of the initiative as a testament to the partnership between the Forum and the Children's Literature Center, providing a platform for children to express their ideas and develop their skills. Asma Abdul Latif Al Kuwari, Director of the Children's Literature Center and program founder, affirmed the program's role as a national platform for training young people in book creation. She stressed its comprehensive educational foundation, combining traditional and modern methods to keep pace with digital development. The Dama Council contributes to the celebrations with a presence at the Al Bidaa event, reflecting a growing interest in reviving Qatari heritage games. The council aims to introduce visitors to the game of Dama, a significant folk game from the past, and to foster interaction between generations through strategic competitions. Additionally, the Theatre Affairs Center pavilion hosted a successful "Clay Sculpture" workshop, where children engaged in sculpting models inspired by Qatari symbols like the Arab Cup and the Sheraton Hotel. The workshop provided participants with an opportunity to learn sculpting fundamentals and create artwork that reflects national identity.
