New delhi: The Qatari national team for athletes with disabilities is set to participate in the World Para Athletics Championships, scheduled to take place in New Delhi, India, from September 26 to October 5. This significant event will bring together over 1,000 elite para-athletes from across the globe, competing in more than 160 track and field events.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Qatari delegation, led by board member Mohammed Dahim Al Dosari, is scheduled to depart for New Delhi tomorrow, Sunday. The team includes notable athletes such as Abderrahman Abdelkader, Mohammed Al Kubaisi, Ali Arshid, and Sarah Masoud, who will compete in shot put and wheelchair racing events.
In preparation for this prestigious event, the Qatari para-athletes held a closed training camp in Poland last August, focusing on honing their skills ahead of this global sporting competition. The event will feature top international athletes, many of whom are Paralympic Games and world championship medalists.
Abderrahman Abdelkader and Sarah Masoud have previously secured medals at the Paralympic Games, while Mohammed Al Kubaisi and Ali Arshid have earned accolades at the Asian and Arab levels. This demonstrates the capability and competitive edge of the Qatari athletes on international platforms.
