Cairo: The State of Qatar participated in the meetings of the 117th Ordinary Session of the Arab Economic and Social Council at the ministerial level, held at the headquarters of the Arab League in Cairo. Deputy Undersecretary for Economic Affairs at the Ministry of Finance, Dr. Saud bin Abdullah Al Attiyah, led Qatar's delegation at the session.
According to Qatar News Agency, the council's agenda included discussions on several economic and social issues. A significant focus was placed on the progress made in completing the requirements of the Greater Arab Free Trade Area and developments related to the Arab Customs Union. Additionally, the agenda reviewed the alignment of legislation governing intra-Arab trade to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
The council expressed commendation for the State of Qatar's successful hosting of the 2nd World Summit for Social Development. Appreciation and thanks were extended to Qatar for its efforts in this regard.
