Qatar Participates in Arab League Meeting on Refugee Convention

Cairo:The State of Qatar has taken part in an Arab League meeting in Cairo to review a proposed convention concerning the status of refugees in Arab countries. The 13th meeting of a joint committee of experts and representatives from justice and interior ministries, along with other relevant authorities, commenced on Tuesday at the Arab League’s headquarters in the Egyptian capital.

According to Qatar News Agency, Qatar was represented by a delegation from the Ministry of Interior and the country’s Permanent Delegation to the Arab League. The two-day meeting is focused on continuing the examination of the draft convention, taking into account comments and observations submitted by member states.

The results of these discussions are anticipated to be presented at the upcoming session of the Arab Ministers of Justice Council, which is scheduled to convene in Algeria in November. This meeting follows a decision made by the Arab Ministers of Justice Council at its 41st session in November 2025, which called for further consideration of the proposed convention.
