The State of Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Social Development and Family, participated in the International Conference on Care Economy and Social Protection, which concluded today in Rabat. Assistant Undersecretary for Social Development Affairs Fahd Mohammed Al Khayarin chaired the State of Qatar's delegation to the conference, organized by Morocco's Ministry of Solidarity, Social Integration and the Family, in partnership with the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States. The two-day event was held under the slogan Pillar of women's empowerment, job opportunities, and achieving family resilience and welfare. It sought to create opportunities and engage in the process of building an integrated system for the care economy, through the exchange of Arab and international expertise on this important sector. The conference attempted to develop a set of solutions that contribute to facing challenges and enriching the discussion, especially with regard to identifying the economic activities that fall under the care economy, and its actual contribution to creating job opportunities that enhance women's economic empowerment. Addressing the conference, Al Khayarin stressed that the economy of care and social protection in the State of Qatar refers to the economic system that focuses on providing care and protection for individuals and families in Qatari society, and aims to provide social protection, health care and necessary services for all citizens. He pointed out that the welfare and social protection economy in the State of Qatar is a fundamental pillar for enhancing the well-being of individuals and family cohesion, and supporting community integration, noting that the system of care services in the country is characterized by diversity, breadth and continuous development. He also noted that the state supports the care economy in its various fields, such as social security, which includes providing financial assistance to individuals who are unable to work due to disability or old age, in addit ion to helping low-income families, which is provided through the Social Security Department at the Ministry of Social Development and Family. Al Khayarin stressed that public health care includes providing care services to all without discrimination, through the Ministry of Public Health and many supporting bodies, adding that education in the State of Qatar is provided free of charge to all citizens, through the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and the bodies under its supervision.
