The international conference on the role of digital transformation and artificial intelligence applications in achieving sustainable development goals in the Arab region kicked off Monday. Qatar participates in the conference which is organized by the Arab Knowledge Management Foundation (AIKM) and the IFLA Regional Committee for the Middle East and North Africa (IFLA-MENA), at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina in Egypt. The two-day conference witnessed the review of a number of working papers submitted by the participants, including the research presented by Major Dr. Khalifa Ahmed Bu Hashem Al-Sayed, Assistant Director of the Center for Security Research and Studies at the Police Academy, on (Data management in security academic institutions and its role in achieving sustainable development goals: The Police Academy in the State of Qatar as a model). The conference, in which more than 220 participants representing 16 Arab countries are participating, aims to study the status of digital transformation in inform ation institutions and its role in achieving sustainable development goals, and the impact of modern artificial intelligence applications on information institutions in the Arab region in terms of advantages and risks, in addition to presenting distinguished models of institutions in which digital transformation contributed to achieving sustainable development goals. The conference also addresses Artificial Intelligence (AI) programs and applications related to arts and creative designs in libraries and presents examples of them, and what contributes to developing a national strategy for digital transformation in information institutions to play an effective role in achieving sustainable development goals. The conference also focuses on several axes in this regard, including the needs of the labor market in light of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology and its applications and its impact on education and training in the field of libraries and information, data management and its role in achieving sustain able development goals, in addition to the role of international and regional organizations in the field of information to achieve sustainable development, as well as the role of national information and knowledge portals in sustainable development.
