Qatar Participates in WHO’s Regional Committee for Eastern Mediterranean

The State of Qatar participated in the meetings of the 70th session of the Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean of the World Health Organization, which opened today in Cairo, which lasts for three days.

The delegation of the State of Qatar to the meetings was headed by HE Minister of Public Health Dr. Hanan Mohammed Al Kuwari.

The main theme of the Regional Committee meetings is "Moving towards a healthier future in the Eastern Mediterranean Region: promoting, protecting and achieving health for all and all", during which the Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean will be nominated at the World Health Organization, as the term of the current Regional Director will expire at the end of January.

The meetings will also discuss a number of important topics, most notably the final report on progress, achievements and challenges in implementing Qatar National Vision 2023, and a number of progress reports, the most important of which are polio eradication and transition, and the implementation of the regional strategy for integrated disease surveillance.

The meetings will also review a number of important technical papers, including enhancing public health preparedness for mass human gatherings in the Eastern Mediterranean Region, in addition to governance and technical issues, and a number of important health topics.

The delegation of the State of Qatar participates in the "Walk the talk" Health event, which includes a special event for youth, in addition to participating in an event accompanying the meetings of the Regional Committee on the impact of economic sanctions on health and health systems in low and middle income countries.
