Doha: The General Referendum Committee in Qatar has successfully completed all necessary preparations and procedures to hold the referendum on constitutional amendments scheduled for tomorrow. This significant event is grounded in Decree No. (87) of 2024, which underscores the strong bond between the Qatari people and their leadership, reflecting a shared commitment to fostering national unity, social cohesion, and steadfast adherence to cherished values and deeply rooted principles. According to Qatar News Agency, English newspaper The Peninsula emphasized that the process of amending and changing articles of the Constitution is an ongoing endeavor, employed by the state whenever necessary to enable the Constitution to keep pace with societal developments and needs. The constitutional amendments have been warmly welcomed by citizens and represent a collaborative effort involving constructive cooperation between the legislative and executive branches. The Peninsula further highlighted that these amendments reflect a commitment to upholding justice and the rule of law across all spheres of life, aligning with the aspirations of Qatari citizens for a brighter future within a safe, cohesive, and harmonious society. This unity fosters a sense of shared purpose, aiming to protect Qatar from divisiveness and reinforce the state's foundations based on equality, justice, and legal integrity. In a separate editorial, Al-Raya newspaper discussed Qatar's longstanding role as a patron of science and scholars, initiating efforts to promote scientific research both nationally and internationally. Qatar has been reaching out to Arab scientists, honoring them, and providing significant support, aiming to become a global hub for research centers and innovation for major international companies. Al-Raya noted that HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation, attended the opening of the Arab Global Scholars Annual Gathering, emphasizing the importance of technology in developing new methods for fostering collab oration to address 21st-century challenges. Qatar has made significant strides in expanding product innovation projects, positioning itself as a global center for research, innovation, and technological leadership. The annual gathering of distinguished Arab scientists in Qatar highlights the nation's belief in the advancement of societies through knowledge development and scientific research. This year's edition focuses on fields of local, regional, and global importance, such as precision healthcare, biotechnology, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, sustainability, and environmental health, Al-Raya concluded.
