Qatar Radio Celebrates World Radio Day, Embracing AI as a Strategic Opportunity

Qatar: Qatar Radio joins the world in celebrating World Radio Day, which falls on Feb. 13 of each year. This year, the celebration is held under the theme "Radio and Artificial Intelligence."

According to Qatar News Agency, Director of Qatar Radio, Mohammed Nasser Al Mohannadi, emphasized the importance of this occasion, highlighting radio's vital role in serving the community and the creative efforts to enhance program content. He noted that the theme for 2026 aligns with Qatar Radio's vision of digital transformation as a strategic opportunity within ethical and professional frameworks.

Qatar Radio has prepared extensively for the event with a range of live and recorded programs and short flashes to emphasize its core message. Al Mohannadi stressed that the celebration reflects a practical commitment to developing performance and adapting to rapid media transformations.

This year's theme underscores the technological advancements across media platforms. Al Mohannadi stated that Qatar Radio views AI as an opportunity to develop new ideas and align with its goals. Qatar Media Corporation has equipped the radio station to fully utilize AI technologies, aiming to enhance radio's role and support its growth.

Al Mohannadi highlighted the establishment of a team of young Qataris trained to harness AI technologies, resulting in innovative ideas for software production. Qatar Radio has produced documentaries and programs dedicated to the theme "Radio and Artificial Intelligence."

Through its programming, Qatar Radio underscores the importance of modern technologies, including AI, in supporting Qatar's institutions. The station combines traditional and modern tools to deliver educational content, significantly increasing its listenership and responsibility to evolve.

He appreciated Qatar Radio employees' dedication on World Radio Day, a day initially proposed by the Spanish Academy of Radio and adopted by UNESCO to raise awareness of radio's significance.
