Qatar Ranks Among Top Five Humanitarian Donors, Hosts Influential Web Summit

Doha: In its editorial, Al-Watan newspaper reported that the State of Qatar has been ranked among the five largest donor countries contributing to humanitarian aid to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) for 2025, with contributions surpassing USD 1.528 billion. This highlights the priority Qatar places on humanitarian response.

According to Qatar News Agency, Al-Watan emphasized the need for intensified diplomatic efforts to address worsening humanitarian conditions in disaster- and crisis-stricken regions. The editorial called for creating an environment that facilitates rapid and unconditional access to humanitarian aid to alleviate the suffering of millions, particularly civilians. It stressed the importance of coordinated regional and international efforts to prioritize humanitarian action and protect humanitarian workers, who are essential for aid delivery.

Al-Watan also highlighted Qatar Charity's announcement of urgent humanitarian aid for families affected by severe flooding in the Durres and Kurbin regions of the Republic of Albania. The floods, caused by days of heavy rainfall, resulted in widespread damage to property and infrastructure.

Meanwhile, Al-Arab daily affirmed that with the launch of the third edition of the Web Summit in Doha, Qatar is solidifying its position as a crucial player in shaping the technological landscape at both regional and global levels.
