According to Qatar News Agency, Al-Raya pointed out that Qatar views the mutual recognition between Israeli occupation authorities and the Somaliland region as a dangerous precedent, contravening international legitimacy and directly infringing upon Somalia's sovereignty and unity. The newspaper emphasized Qatar's commitment to playing a responsible role in supporting regional security and stability, advocating for international cooperation to maintain stability in the Horn of Africa, and reiterating its steadfast support for Somalia's sovereignty as essential for achieving peace and sustainable development in the region.
Al-Sharq newspaper reported that HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani expressed Qatar's full support for Somalia's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and security, as well as the protection of its people's interests during a phone conversation with Somalia's President, Dr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud. This position, the newspaper noted, is in direct response to Qatar's rejection of the mutual recognition declaration between Israel and Somaliland, as such a step is seen as a dangerous precedent and a unilateral action that violates international law and Somalia's sovereignty.
The report from Al-Sharq further noted that rather than recognizing the State of Palestine and pursuing a sustainable resolution to the Gaza conflict, Israel continues to escalate tensions, countering regional and international efforts to enhance security and peace.
