Qatar Sailing and Rowing Federation Outlines Ambitious 2026 Plans in Annual Assembly

Doha: The Qatar Sailing and Rowing Federation (QSRF) held its ordinary general assembly meeting for the 2026 season, focusing on key agenda items such as the federation's activities and external participations. The meeting was chaired by Rashid Majed Al Sulaiti, President of QSRF, and attended by most members, including Abdulla Yousef Al Abdullah from the Qatar Olympic Committee, who verified the meeting's validity with the required legal quorum.

According to Qatar News Agency, Secretary-General Ali Nasser Telfat presented the agenda, which emphasized sports activity programs and the proposed action plan for 2026. Al Sulaity highlighted the federation's ongoing efforts to meet its objectives by supporting sailing and rowing through performance development and increased visibility. He remarked on the resumption of activities in 2025, including the Qatar International Optimist Championship.

Al Sulaity stated that the federation's strategy involves preparing athletes through training programs and camps to achieve better results in upcoming competitions. He reiterated the commitment to serve sports in Qatar by organizing diverse activities and improving performance levels, expressing gratitude to the Qatar Olympic Committee for its support.

The assembly reviewed achievements from the 2025 season and outlined goals for the new season, such as increasing events to develop sailing and rowing competitions and nurturing a new generation of athletes to represent Qatar internationally. Discussions included the federation's move to its new headquarters in Ras Bu Aboud in January 2026 and plans for a kitesurfing facility in Zekreet. The assembly approved the minutes of the previous meeting, endorsed the 2025 fiscal year budget, reviewed the auditor's report, and confirmed the action plan for 2026.

Ali Nasser Telfat detailed the federation's 2025 activities, including organizing the Qatar International Optimist Championship and participating in various international competitions. He emphasized the goal of building a strong base of young talents for national teams, with the 2026 calendar featuring 10 activities, including six sailing events and four rowing events.
