Qatar-Saudi Joint Business Council Discusses Economic Integration Prospects

Doha: The Qatar-Saudi Joint Business Council convened on Monday at the Qatar Chamber's headquarters, led by Qatar Chamber Chairman HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al-Thani for the Qatari delegation, and HE Hamad bin Ali Al-Shuwair for the Saudi delegation. Members from both nations participated in discussions focused on enhancing trade exchange, simplifying business creation, and boosting mutual investments.

According to Qatar News Agency, the meeting underscored the steady development of Qatar-Saudi relations, driven by the leadership of both countries. HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al-Thani highlighted the alignment of Qatar National Vision 2030 with Saudi Vision 2030, both aiming to transform the region into a global economic hub. The council is pivotal in bolstering cooperation between the private sectors, addressing challenges, and exploiting opportunities in sectors like energy, industry, and digital transformation.

HE Sheikh Khalifa noted the council's significance as a platform for bilateral economic collaboration. The meeting marked the second of its kind this year, reflecting its vital role in fostering partnerships. The Qatar Chamber remains committed to creating an environment conducive to business development between the two nations.

HE Hamad bin Ali Al-Shuwair remarked on the alignment of development visions, which has accelerated economic relations and trade partnerships. He highlighted the increase in trade volume and Qatari investments in Saudi Arabia, noting the potential for further integration in digitalisation, renewable energy, and industrial activities.

The meeting featured presentations from both sides, including Qatar Ports' Transit Shipments Initiative and Saudi initiatives on event organisation and economic integration. Additionally, the Saudi General Authority for Real Estate discussed property ownership for non-Saudis in the Kingdom.
