Qatar Secures 2nd Place in FIBA 3×3 U23 Nations League 2025 – Asia-Oceania’s 4th Round

Doha: The Qatar national basketball team came in second place (runner-up) in the 4th round of the FIBA 3x3 U23 Nations League 2025 - Asia-Oceania.

According to Qatar News Agency, the tournament, organized by the Qatar Basketball Federation at Al Gharafa Indoor Hall, features 12 national teams competing in both men's and women's categories. The event is currently ongoing and will conclude on Tuesday.

The Qatari team secured the second position following a narrow 20-21 defeat to New Zealand. Team Qatar showcased strong performances throughout the 4th round, emerging as the top team in Group B after defeating Chinese Taipei 21-11 and Singapore 21-12.

In the men's category, New Zealand now leads with 380 points, while Qatar holds the second position with 340 points. The Philippines rank third with 280 points, followed by Singapore with 215, Chinese Taipei with 210, and Indonesia in sixth with 195 points.

In the women's competition, the Philippines lead the standings with 370 points, followed by Chinese Taipei with 320 points in second place. New Zealand ranks third with 310 points, followed by Singapore with 230, Indonesia with 210, and Qatar in sixth with 180 points. The Qatar women's team, competing in Group A, faced defeats against the Philippines (9-21) and New Zealand (3-21).

The tournament includes 12 teams, with six teams in each of the men's and women's categories: Qatar, New Zealand, Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Chinese Taipei. Round five is scheduled for Monday, while the final will be held on Tuesday.

This event is part of promotional activities leading up to Qatar's hosting of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027. It reflects the Qatar Basketball Federation's commitment to increasing global basketball engagement in the country and is held in cooperation with and under the supervision of FIBA.
