Doha: Qatar clinched two silver medals in equestrian and athletics at the 3rd Asian Youth Games, which are currently underway in Bahrain and will continue until October 31. The event features participation from over 5,000 athletes across 45 countries. According to Qatar News Agency, the first silver medal was awarded to the Qatari equestrian team. The team, comprising Suhaim Hamad Al Yafei, Amer Hamad AlMansouri, Mohammed Issa Al-Bukhari, and Abdulaziz Saud Fakhro, demonstrated an impressive performance in the show jumping team competition. The Jordanian team claimed the gold medal, while the Saudi team secured the bronze. The second silver medal was achieved by runner Dana Salem in the athletics competition. Salem completed the 100-meter race with a time of 11.60 seconds. Emirati athlete Arwa Ashar won the gold medal with a time of 11.45 seconds, while China's Xinyi Yan took the bronze with a time of 11.79 seconds. Qatar's overall medal count at the Asian Games now stands at three: one gold and two silver . This follows runner Idris Abubaker's gold medal win in the 110m hurdles on Thursday. In other competitions, Qatar's beach volleyball team, featuring Ahmed Ziad and Musa Al Khair, faced a 2-1 defeat against Indonesia with scores of 15-21, 21-18, and 10-15. Despite the loss, the team advanced to the quarterfinals and is set to compete against Kazakhstan. In golf, the Qatari team maintained their 12th place in the team rankings after the second day's competition. However, team player Daniel Sokolov fell to twenty-second place, while Camille Ben Reqaya improved to thirty-eighth in the individual rankings. In volleyball, the national women's youth team experienced a 0-3 loss to Chinese Taipei in the quarter-finals. Qatar's participation in the Asian Youth Games includes 67 athletes competing across 16 sports: athletics, badminton, 3x3 basketball, equestrian (show jumping), golf, judo, jiu-jitsu, cycling, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, triathlon, wrestling, volleyball, beach volleyball, and boxing. Qatari women's participation encompasses four sports: athletics, badminton, volleyball, and beach volleyball.
