Algiers: The State of Qatar has been chosen as the guest of honor at the 27th International Book Fair of Algiers (SILA), which is scheduled to begin on Wednesday and continue until November 16. The selection is in recognition of Qatar's significant contributions to cultural and intellectual fields. According to Qatar News Agency, the fair's commissioner, Mohamed Iguerb, stated that Qatar's selection aligns with the strategy of the Culture and Arts Sector, led by HE Minister of Culture and Arts, Dr. Soraya Mouloudji. This decision acknowledges Qatar's impactful role in the cultural arena, highlighting its achievements in cultural diplomacy and its efforts to promote Arab culture through various programs and institutions. Iguerb emphasized that Qatar's cultural program at the exhibition will showcase the nation's diverse and rich cultural accomplishments. The program aims to foster partnerships by integrating with the exhibition's general cultural activities, creating a platform for dialogue, idea exchange, a nd collaboration. He also highlighted the robust cooperation between Qatar and Algeria in the media and cultural sectors. Algerians trust the cultural institutions in Qatar, which have made significant contributions globally, prompting a desire for partnerships with Qatari counterparts. This mutual interest extends to Qataris, who have demonstrated their capabilities in joint cultural investments. The exhibition will serve as a venue for valuable exchanges based on cooperation, with hopes of strengthening cultural relations between Qatar and Algeria. The aim is to elevate these relations to match the comprehensive fraternal ties shared by both countries across various domains.
