Doha: The Qatar Table Tennis League for Men for the 2025-2026 season commenced on Tuesday, featuring participation from nine clubs. The first round of the tournament was held at the Training and Preparation Center in Ras Abu Aboud, where four matches took place.
According to Qatar News Agency, the opening match saw Qatar Club secure a 3-0 victory over Al Ahli. In subsequent games, Al Khor emerged victorious against Al Gharafa with a score of 3-1, Al Rayyan defeated Al Shamal 3-0, and Al Sadd overcame Al Wakrah 3-1. The matches were officiated by Mr. Mohammed Ahmed Al Rumaihi, Executive Director of the Qatar Table Tennis Federation, with Mr. Ali Sultan Al Muftah, Assistant Secretary General of the Federation and Head of the Competitions Committee, in attendance.
The second round of the tournament is set to begin on Wednesday, featuring four more matches: Al Arabi will face Al Ahli, Qatar Club will play against Al Gharafa, Al Sadd will meet Al Shamal, and Al Khor will take on Al Rayyan. The tournament spans nine rounds over eight days, concluding on the 27th of the month to determine the top three positions.
In the previous season (2024-2025), Al Arabi claimed the Men's Table Tennis League title, ending a 12-year gap since their last victory in the 2011-2012 season. They led the standings with 16 points, maintaining a flawless record of eight wins in eight matches. Qatar Club secured second place with 15 points, followed by Al Sadd in third with 14 points. Al Khor, Al Rayyan, Al Shamal, Al Gharafa, Al Wakrah, and Al Ahli rounded out the standings in fourth through ninth places, respectively.
