Dushanbe: The fifth session of the Qatar-Tajikistan Joint Committee on Economic, Commercial, and Technical Cooperation convened with senior officials from both countries in attendance. The session was co-chaired by HE Minister of State for Foreign Trade Affairs at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Sayed, representing Qatar, and HE Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan, Zavqi Zavqizoda, representing Tajikistan.
According to Qatar News Agency, HE Minister of State for Foreign Trade Affairs highlighted the robust bilateral relations between Qatar and Tajikistan, noting the committee's role as a crucial platform for enhancing strategic partnerships in economic, trade, and investment sectors. The discussions during the session covered key areas such as trade, investment, transportation, agriculture, environment, education, health, labor, tourism, culture, and information and communications technology.
Both nations agreed to undertake specific measures to expand bilateral cooperation. This includes activating existing agreements and memorandums of understanding, establishing a Qatar-Tajikistan Business Council, and facilitating the movement of people, goods, and investments to stimulate trade, tourism, and cultural exchange.
On the sidelines of the committee's meeting, the Minister of State for Foreign Trade Affairs conducted a series of bilateral meetings with several senior officials from Tajikistan. These discussions focused on various aspects of joint cooperation, exploring opportunities to strengthen partnerships in sectors deemed as priorities and beneficial to the economies of both countries. Additionally, they reviewed investment opportunities available in Qatar and the incentives offered to investors.
