Qatar Team Reach Final of FIP Asia Padel Cup

Doha: Qatar qualified for the men's final of the FIP Asia Padel Cup after a 2-0 win over Iran in today semi-final. Qatar will now face the United Arab Emirates, who edged Australia in a tense contest, in today's championship decider at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex in Doha.

According to Qatar News Agency, having already secured their place in the last four, the Qatar team continued their impressive run with a third straight victory on Wednesday, overcoming Australia (2-1) in the final round of Group B matches. In the same group, Kuwait defeated Pakistan by the same margin (2-1).

Qatar opened their main-draw campaign with a 2-1 win over Kuwait, followed by a 3-0 sweep of Pakistan in the second round. These results placed the hosts firmly at the top of Group B with six points, followed by Australia (5), Kuwait (4), and Pakistan (3).

President of the Asian Padel Federation and Secretary-General of the Qatar Padel Federation, Tariq Darwish Zainal, expressed happiness with the level demonstrated by the Qatari national team players in the tournament so far. Zainal told the Qatar News Agency (QNA) that he was proud of the performance of the Qatari players and their success in qualifying for the final of the first edition of the Asian Padel Championship.

He added that the Qatari national team's success in Asia confirms the success of the strategy developed by the Qatar Padel Federation, which aims to promote the game and increase the number of its practitioners. The Federation now has a significant number of players.
