Qatar Triumphs Over Saudi Arabia in West Asian Beach Volleyball Championship

Muscat: The Qatari national team defeated the Saudi team in two sets to none Monday in their second match of the preliminary round of the 4th West Asian Beach Volleyball Championship for men and women, currently being held in the Omani capital, Muscat, and continuing until October 23.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Qatari team, consisting of Mahmoud Essam and Saif Abdulmajeed, performed strongly during the match against the Saudi duo of Seraj Al Omari and Ahmed Mahfouz, securing the victory in two sets to none, 21-13 and 21-9.

In the women's category, the Qatari team, consisting of Haya Abu Issa and Laila Mohammed, lost to their Lebanese counterparts, consisting of Lara Al Nahi and Mirna Sheikho, in two sets to none, 14-21 and 11-21.

The Qatari team look forward to continuing its winning streak in the next stage of the tournament and demonstrating its outstanding performance internationally, following its victory in the Newport Beach Tour in the United States as part of the Elite 16 World Tour.

The team's participation in various tournaments also comes as part of the Qatar Volleyball Federation's plan to prepare for the 2025 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championship, which will be held in Australia from November 14 to 23, with the participation of 48 of the world's best teams.

It is worth noting that the Qatari beach volleyball team have achieved numerous Olympic and international accomplishments, most notably winning the bronze medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and finishing fourth at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
