Doha: The Qatar U-16 Women's Volleyball squad is gearing up to compete in the 2nd Asian Women's U16 Volleyball Championship, scheduled to take place in Amman, Jordan, from November 1 to 8, 2025.
According to Qatar News Agency, the tournament attracts a prestigious lineup of Asian national teams, representing the future of the continent's volleyball scene. This aligns with the Qatar Volleyball Association's (QVA) strategic plan to enhance youth divisions and empower women's volleyball by offering young athletes the chance to gain global experience. The initiative is part of a broader commitment to develop a new generation of players who can represent Qatar with distinction in both regional and global competitions, ultimately strengthening the nation's position in Asian volleyball.
Team Qatar has been drawn into Pool C, where they will face China, Kazakhstan, and South Korea. Meanwhile, Pool A includes the host nation Jordan, Uzbekistan, Lebanon, and Hong Kong; Pool B consists of Japan, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the Philippines; and Pool D features Chinese Taipei, Thailand, Australia, and India. Qatar is set to kick off its preliminary-round matches against Kazakhstan on Saturday, followed by encounters with China and South Korea on the subsequent days.
The Qatari delegation aims to deliver a commendable performance and acquire valuable experience through participation in this tournament, which promises to be highly competitive. The Qatar team comprises 12 players and is led by Coach Lux Gabrel, with assistance from Nohail Alejandro. The team management includes Maria Belin as the manager and Fatima Al Touzri as the physiotherapist. Coach Gabrel has expressed confidence that the team's participation will showcase the rapid progress of Qatari women's volleyball.
