Qatar Wins Six Medals, Tops Standings at West Asian Athletics Championships in Beirut

Beirut: The Qatari national athletics team made a strong start to the 3rd West Asian Athletics Championships for Youth and Women, securing a total of six medals-four gold and two silver-on the opening day of the event in the Lebanese capital, Beirut.

According to Qatar News Agency, the championship, which runs through October 5, features participation from 12 countries across the region. Qatar's impressive performance on the first day placed them at the top of the overall standings for both youth and women's categories.

Qatar's gold medalists include Mubarak Saeed in the 3,000m event, Abdulrahman Mohammed in the 400m hurdles, Dana Salem in the 100m junior women category, and Maryam Al Salik in the 3,000m junior women category. The silver medals were claimed by Abdulrazzaq Idris in the 400m hurdles and Saleh Mahmoud in the shot put event.

The Qatari delegation to the championship includes a diverse lineup of athletes competing across various track and field events. The team aims to build on this strong start as the competition continues in Beirut.
