QatarEnergy and Egyptian Petroleum Ministry Sign MoU to Supply LNG to Egypt

Doha: QatarEnergy signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources of the Arab Republic of Egypt to enhance cooperation in the energy sector, focusing on the supply of LNG from QatarEnergy to Egypt. The agreement was officiated by HE Minister of State for Energy Affairs, President and CEO of QatarEnergy Saad Sherida Al Kaabi, and HE Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources of Egypt Karim Badawi, during a ceremony at QatarEnergy's headquarters in Doha.

According to Qatar News Agency, HE Minister Al Kaabi expressed satisfaction with the strengthened cooperation with Egypt, underscoring the importance of the agreement in building on recent successful collaborations, particularly in the supply of LNG. Al Kaabi emphasized the significance of this MoU in fortifying bilateral relations and addressing Egypt's increasing energy demands to support its economic and industrial growth. He stressed the potential for further collaboration with the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources and other partners in Egypt to meet future LNG needs.

The MoU sets the stage for ongoing collaboration in the energy sector, including the long-term delivery of LNG from QatarEnergy to Egypt. QatarEnergy and the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) have agreed on the supply of up to 24 LNG cargoes for the summer of 2026. Both parties have also committed to initiating discussions on additional long-term LNG supplies from QatarEnergy to Egypt.
