Doha: QatarEnergy and its partners were awarded an exploration license for the Nzombo offshore block in the Republic of Congo. Under the terms of the Production Sharing Contract signed with the Congolese Government, QatarEnergy will hold a 35% participating interest in the block. TotalEnergies affiliate in Congo (the operator), will hold a 50% interest, while Societe Nationale des Petroles du Congo, the Congolese national oil company, will hold the remaining 15%.
According to Qatar News Agency, commenting on the occasion, HE Minister of State for Energy Affairs, the President and CEO of QatarEnergy, Eng. Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi, expressed satisfaction over the awarding of this offshore block in collaboration with the Congolese Government. He highlighted the cooperation with valued partners and emphasized the importance of this new venture.
HE Minister Al Kaabi further acknowledged the support from the Government of the Republic of Congo and expressed eagerness to embark on a successful exploration campaign with partners and stakeholders. The Nzombo block, located approximately 90 kilometers off the coast of Pointe-Noire, spans an area of 1,053 square kilometers with water depths exceeding 1,000 meters.
