Doha: QatarEnergy has signed production sharing contracts for two offshore blocks in Suriname. The agreements for Blocks 9 and 10 were finalized following the POST SHO2 bid round in June 2025.
According to Qatar News Agency, QatarEnergy will hold a 20 percent working interest in Block 9. The remaining interests are held by PETRONAS Suriname E and P B.V. (30 percent and the operator), Chevron (20 percent), and Staatsolie's Paradise Oil Company (30 percent). In Block 10, QatarEnergy will hold a 30 percent interest, with Chevron (30 percent and operator), PETRONAS Suriname (30 percent), and Paradise Oil Company (10 percent) as partners.
HE Minister of State for Energy Affairs, Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi, expressed satisfaction with the agreements, noting they increase QatarEnergy's involvement to seven offshore blocks in Suriname. He highlighted the cooperation with partners Chevron, PETRONAS Suriname, and Staatsolie and thanked Surinamese authorities for their support.
Blocks 9 and 10 are situated offshore Suriname in waters up to 50 meters deep. They are near recent discoveries that have boosted the region's petroleum prospects.
