Doha: The Qatari men's beach volleyball team, consisting of Cherif Younness and Ahmed Tijan, have advanced to 10th place in the world, according to the latest rankings issued by the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB), up from 12th place at the beginning of May. According to Qatar News Agency, this progress comes after a series of positive results, most notably winning the gold medal at the Pingtan Asian Open Tour, recently held in China. The Qatari team defeated their Australian counterpart, consisting of Oliver Merritt and Ben Hood, 2-0 (21-15, 21-14) in the final match held last Sunday. This gold medal is Qatar's third on Asian tours this season, after winning the Samila Open Tour in Thailand and the Doha Open Tour, further strengthening its position as one of the most prominent teams in Asia. Meanwhile, Norwegian duo Anders Berntsen Mol and S¸rom Kristian Snadli maintained their top spot in the world rankings, while Swedish duo David Ahlman and Jonathan came in second. The Qatari national team c ontinues its impressive performance on the international stage, confirming its ambition to achieve further achievements during the current season.
