Qatari League: Al Arabi SC Signs Romanian Coach Cosmin Contra

Doha: Al Arabi SC has announced the signing of Romanian coach Cosmin Contra to lead the first football team during the next phase. Al Arabi Club announced on its official account on the X platform the signing of a Romanian coaching staff led by Cosmin Contra, without revealing the details of the contract or its duration.

According to Qatar News Agency, Cosmin Contra will succeed Spaniard Pablo Amo, the former coach of Al Arabi, who left the team following a decline in results in the first rounds of the league. Al Arabi is looking to regain its balance in the Qatari Football League (Doha Bank Stars League 2025-2026) after a poor start in the first six rounds of the competition this season, during which the team collected only four points from six matches, finishing in eleventh place (second from last) in the standings.

Cosmin Contra, 50, is a former Romanian international footballer who played for major European clubs such as AC Milan and Atletico Madrid before moving on to coach several teams, most notably Al Ittihad of Saudi Arabia and Dinamo Bucharest of Romania.
