Doha: The Qatari men's basketball team emerged victorious in the sixth stage of the FIBA U23 3x3 Nations League (Asia-Pacific Region), which was hosted by the Qatar Basketball Federation from May 28 to June 3. The tournament saw participation from 12 elite national teams across both men's and women's categories.
According to Qatar News Agency, the event took place at Al Gharafa Sports Hall and featured teams from Qatar, New Zealand, Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Chinese Taipei. Qatar secured the championship title following a competitive final against New Zealand, triumphing with a 17-14 score. The team demonstrated strong performance throughout the tournament, defeating Chinese Taipei 21-9 and Indonesia 21-14 in the preliminary rounds.
With this victory, Qatar's total points increased to 520, having previously won both the third and sixth stages and finishing as runner-up in the first, second, and fourth stages. This success brings the team closer to qualifying for the upcoming Basketball 3x3 World Championship in Xiong'an, China, scheduled for September 17 to 21, contingent on the completion of continental qualifiers.
