Qatari National Team Advances to Asian Open Beach Volleyball Quarterfinals

Doha: The Qatari national team have qualified for the quarterfinals of the Asian Open Men's Beach Volleyball Tour, currently being held at Al Gharafa Beach Stadium, with the participation of approximately 20 elite Asian teams.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Qatari team qualified after a well-deserved victory over its Bahraini counterpart in two sets (21-15, 21-11). They are scheduled to face Thailand in the quarterfinals tomorrow, Friday, in an anticipated encounter.

The tournament includes teams from Australia, Japan, Thailand, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Uzbekistan, New Zealand, and the host country, Qatar. It is taking place amidst intensive technical preparations and expectations of strong competition among the participating teams. It is also one of the main qualifying stages for the World Championship, and its results are counted towards the approved Asian and international ranking points, adding a special atmosphere of excitement and rivalry between the participating teams.

The first-place team will receive 320 international ranking points and a cash prize of $2,500. The second-place team will receive 288 points and a cash prize of $2,000, while the third-place team will receive 256 points and a cash prize of $1,500.

The Asian Volleyball Confederation also announced that teams ranked first through sixteenth will receive ranking points and cash prizes.
