Manama: The Qatari national volleyball team have concluded preparations for the first edition of the West Asian Men's Volleyball Championship, hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain from July 17 to 27. The team's mission will depart for Bahrain on Wednesday to participate in Group B, which also includes Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and the Sultanate of Oman. Group A includes Bahrain (host), the UAE, Jordan, and Lebanon.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Qatari team will begin their journey in the tournament against Saudi Arabia next Saturday, and will meet Oman the following day. It will conclude its group stage matches against Kuwait on July 21. This first edition of the tournament is a new sports initiative by the West Asian Volleyball Federation, aiming to enhance regional competition and develop the game technically and organizationally by holding a regular tournament bringing together the region's elite teams.
The West Asian Volleyball Federation, headed by Ali Ghanem Al Kuwari, who is also President of the Qatar Volleyball Federation, continues its rapid steps to consolidate its presence as one of the most prominent regional centers active in developing the game on the continent, capitalizing on the technical and organizational momentum that the game has witnessed in the region's countries in recent years.
