Doha: The 2nd meeting of the Qatari-Saudi Roundtable was held Sunday in conjunction with the "Web Summit Qatar 2026" in Doha, focusing on ways to enhance economic and investment cooperation between Qatar and Saudi Arabia in communications, information technology, and innovation.
According to Qatar News Agency, HE Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry Mohammed bin Hassan Al Malki and HE Assistant Minister of Investment in Saudi Arabia Dr. Abdullah bin Ali Al Dubaikhi co-chaired the meeting. Representatives from government agencies and the private sector from both sides participated in the discussions.
The meeting addressed opportunities in communications and information technology, investment, and innovation, emphasizing the sectors' roles in supporting the countries' shifts towards the digital and knowledge economies. It highlighted the importance of integrating roles between the public and private sectors and enhancing coordination to achieve common goals and strengthen the presence of Qatari and Saudi companies at international economic and technological events.
Discussions also focused on building on the outcomes of the first meeting, which led to initiatives like proposing a platform for building startups in communications, information technology, and real estate technology sectors. Efforts to expand institutional coordination and review promising investment opportunities in tourism, manufacturing, health services, and real estate development sectors were also discussed.
The meeting featured presentations from both sides on key initiatives, proposed investment projects, and cooperation opportunities in areas of common interest. Additionally, bilateral meetings and exchanges of views took place among public and private sector representatives to explore cooperation opportunities and build new investment partnerships, supporting the strategic partnership between Qatar and Saudi Arabia and enhancing its future prospects.
