Qatar: Qatar's Al Ahli advanced to the quarter-finals of the AFC Champions League 2 with a 1-0 victory over Iran's Sepahan on Wednesday at Thumama Stadium in the second leg of the round of 16. Oumar Sekou netted the decisive goal in the 91st minute of extra time after the first leg at the same venue ended in a 2-2 draw.

A potential opening goal for Sepahan by Kaveh Rezaei was ruled out for offside following a VAR review. Similarly, a penalty awarded to Al Ahli for a foul on Robin Tihi was overturned by VAR.

Al Ahli created several chances in regulation time, including a near-miss by Ahmed Reyad, but Sepahan remained a threat on counterattacks, hitting the crossbar through Kaveh Rezaei.

The match remained goalless after 90 minutes. In extra time, the French striker Sekou converted a rebound from the Iranian defense to secure Al Ahli's victory. Sepahan pressed for an equalizer in the second period of extra time, but goalkeeper Marwan Sherif made several key saves to preserve the win.
